Canoes, Mountains & Caves CIC

Canoes, Mountains & Caves (CMC) was founded in the Spring of 2014 by husband & wife, Mal & Marion Tabb. The aim was to provide accessible adventurous outdoor activities at both introductory & progressive levels to a broad spectrum of people. At the heart of the vision, from the outset, was the idea of a “Community Programme” – a series of outdoor opportunities (canoeing, mountaineering, caving etc) delivered free of charge to anybody wanting to participate.
In the years that followed, CMC has built a strong base, principally within the Educational Sector, working across the full primary and secondary age ranges, with schools throughout the North of England. Strong relationships with school staff and pupils have become a characteristic, and intervention work with young people in the outdoors is a specialism. The “Community Programme” continues to thrive with around twenty events each year being held, from multi-day open canoe trips to days in the Lake District Fells.
A journey underpinned by a Christian faith and experience working with charities / not-for-profits, it was never the intention that CMC would operate forever on a purely commercial basis. It’s taken many years to bring the “right” team together to take CMC down the Community Interest Company route, but we look forward to the times ahead with anticipation & excitement!
We operate across the North of England, with regional bases in Cumbria and Tyne and Wear.
